Last weekend we had the 5th round of the BRCA national series.

With Robin Hammett leading the series the Xray team were in good spirits and looking forward to the race weekend. The forecast had lived up to expectations and we were greeted by a damp track.

The track had dried by the afternoon and we were soon onto full dry foams. Slight adjustments to the rear toe and shock position helped with the low grip conditions and the team were confident overnight.

Qualifying – Rd1

With a wet track after overnight rain Mark Gilliland managed to set the TQ on rubber tyres. Robin again on rubbers managed 6th overall in tricky conditions.

Final

For the finalists, a dry final was out of equation when it started raining 10 minutes before the start, leaving all racers with a tough call on tyres. The start of the 30 minute race saw Kyle Branson hit the front after 4 laps followed by Steve Brown, Mark Gilliland had some issues in 1st few laps and had to make an unscheduled pit stop. Robin had a clash with a mechanic in the pit lane and missed the start of the race. Mark set about trying to catch the leaders and eventually hit the lead after Kyle had some problems. Going on to take the win by 3 laps from Mark Green. Robin battled through the back to gain some valuable points.
